Wedding Nightmare #2
Date: January 28th, 2011
Category: Immense amount of fighting and frustration.
This was a strange one. A giant storm rolled through (hurricane or monsoon, or a combination of both) and did some serious damage to my house. Trees were uprooted from the wind because the ground was saturated with water and too soggy. Walking through the front yard was like slushing around in a marsh.
Because of the storm, repairs to the house were needed. Apparently, that meant that all of our possessions had to be moved somewhere, because the house was almost completely empty.
At some point in the dream, my mom and I drive to the mailbox and I notice there is a yellow slip of paper addressed to Chris and I. In reality, it looks like the part of a receipt that you get back after you sign for your purchase. But in my dream I recognized it as notice that someone had purchased us a gift off our registry. (In dream land we had registered at Pottery Barn, which makes this even weirder). The name on the purchase was John Stewart. I dream some foggy connection in my mind that somehow we knew him, perhaps through a mutual acquaintance, and thought it was rather cool that he was getting us a gift and coming to the wedding. I shared this with my mother, who was driving the car. She did not share my enthusiasm. In fact, she began a long tirade of how he was not to be at our wedding and his presence was unacceptable. And then I started yelling back.
Do you ever have dreams where you argue with someone so hard that your face actually hurts and you feel winded? No? Yeah that would be weird.
So we drive back to our deserted house where my dad is waiting and I tell him my exciting news. He has the same reaction as my mom! More yelling. I get frustrated and I say "Well fine I'm leaving!" I go to my room to grab some clothes to take with me then realize that everything is gone because of that freaking hurr-i-soon! I storm out angrily.
(I told my parents about their dream reactions this morning, and they laughed. Really hard. Why was John Stewart in my dream? No clue. I haven't watched an episode of the Daily Show this year. Why did my parents have a violently aggressive opposition to him attending my wedding? Even less of a clue.)
I go to the gym to try to blow off some steam. In reality, the gym that I go to has been under major reconstruction lately. In dream land, apparently the same thing was happening because everything was all turned around and the gym was literally one tiny room tucked away in the building. I finally found my way around and a machine to run on, but then the room was being cleared out for a fitness class and the machine was unplugged while I was still on it. I yelled at some more people.
I'm definitely going for a run today.
